Your Ultimate 5-Day Guide to Puerto Escondido

Updated: Mar 13

You've either made it to Puerto Escondido or you're currently researching a visit, either way — you won't regret being here. Puerto Escondido, which translates to "Hidden Port" in English, is a charming coastal town nestled in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. Legend has it that the name "Puerto Escondido" originated from the tale of a woman who escaped her captors and sought refuge here.

Initially established in the 1930s, the town's bay served as a port for coffee shipments, but it lacked a permanent settlement due to limited access to potable water. However, over the years, Puerto Escondido has blossomed into one of the Oaxacan coast's premier tourist destinations, attracting a diverse crowd including surfers, international backpackers, and Mexican families.

So, how do you make the most of your time in this tropical paradise? We've crafted the ultimate 5-Day guide for you, ensuring a perfect blend of fitness, relaxation, adventure, and, of course, delicious food! Plus, as a SHRED Member, you'll score exclusive discounts at all our recommended spots.
